Origin: Nl, dim. Fr. Terebratus, p.p, perforated.

(Science: zoology) A genus of brachiopods which includes many living and some fossil species. The larger valve has a perforated beak, through which projects a short peduncle for attachment.

Synonym: lamp shell.
