seed

(Science: biology plant biology) A propagating organ formed in the sexual reproductive cycle of gymnosperms and angiosperms, consisting of a protective coat enclosing an embryo and food reserves. A small hard fruit.A mature fertilized plant ovule consisting of an embryo and its food source and having a protective coat or testa.The thick white fluid containing spermatozoa that is ejaculated by the male genital tract.The structure found in a fertilised ovule of a plant. Generally, this will consist of two main components, the [[embryo and [[endosperm. The endosperm acts as a food store for the embryo which over time, will grow from this rich food supply enabling it to do so.
