Ipomoea

(Science: botany) a genus of twining plants with showy monopetalous flowers, including the morning-glory, the sweet potato, and the cypress vine.

Origin: NL. Named, according to Linnaeus, from gr. 'ips, 'ipos, a bindweed [which it is not.
