Definition

noun

(1) (zoology) The series of specimens which either constitutes the name-bearing type of a nominal species or subspecies or from which the name-bearing type has been or may be designated.

(2) The series of objects belonging to the same general class but of different types, and are arranged in topological order, suggesting a chronological sequence.
