Definition

noun

The name given to the hominid believed to be a male child that lived in the Pleistocene. The remains were discovered at Lake Turkana, Kenya in 1984 (hence the name).

Supplement

Turkana Boy is a hominid belonging to the species Homo erectus or Homo ergaster. The specimen has a total of 108 bones and therefore the most complete early hominid skeleton to date. The remains of this hominid still had some milk teeth and some of the joints did not fuse yet, indicating a young age at the time of death, perhaps below ten years of age yet already 5 feet in height.
