A histological technique used in preserving biological tissue specimens for later cytologic, histologic, or pathologic examination through the microscope.


Fixation refers to the fixing or arresting the tissue integrity as well as biochemical reactions as much as possible. This is usually done with the use of fixatives or chemicals that prevent tissue decay.
