(Science: enzyme) A portion of the electron transport chain, catalyzing the transfer of electrons from succinate to cytochrome c via fad, ubiquinone, and cytochrome b. The first step is catalyzed by succinate dehydrogenase (ec 1.3.99.1), the other steps are not well characterised.
