(Science: anatomy, muscle) origin, subscapular fossa; insertion, lesser tuberosity of humerus; action, rotates arm medially; nerve supply, upper and lower subscapular from posterior cord of brachial plexus (fifth and sixth cervical spinal nerves).

Synonym: musculus subscapularis, subscapular muscle.
