(Science: botany) An umbelliferous herb (Meum Athamanticum) having finely divided leaves, common in Europe.

Synonym: baldmoney, mew, and bearwort.

Alternative forms: spignel.

Origin: Contr. From spike nail a large, long nail; so called in allusion to the shape of its capillary leaves.
