Sphenethmoid bone of the frog skull is located in front of the parasphenoid bone. It also forms as three bones in mammals comprising the lesser wings of the anterior part of the base,orbitosphenoid and presphenoid, though some fusion might occurs but only parasphenoid are completely absent in mammals.

Sphenoid bone is located inneurocranium that is unpaired which set at the middle of the skull towards the front oftemporal bone and basilar part of occipital bone that helps to connect the neurocranium to the facial skeleton. It is also important as medial support of the palate which makes it stable and firm. Lastly, it provides articulation of palatoquadrate and intracranial.
