(Science: anatomy, muscle) origin, spinous processes and corresponding supraspinous ligaments of first four thoracic vertebrae; insertion, medial border of scapula below spine; action, draws scapula toward vertebral column; nerve supply, dorsal of scapula nerve.

Synonym: musculus rhomboideus major, greater rhomboid muscle.
