An abnormally low concentration of circulating monocytes in the blood.


Monocytopenia is a form of leukopenia involving the monocytes. A deficiency of monocytes in the blood is found after therapy with immunosuppressive glucocorticoid.

Word origin: monocyte + Greek penía (deficiency).
