A lung disease common among colliers or coal miners as a result of long term exposure to coal dust particles.


The disease is a common affliction of colliers or coal workers. It is caused by prolonged exposure to coal dust particles or smoke resulting in the accumulation of carbon in the lungs.

The term miners' asthma was used to refer to the condition of spitting, coughing and breathlessness among coal workers in which the cause was previously unknown.
