Impregnated with metallic salts; chalybeate; as, metalline water.

Origin: Cf. F. Metallin.

(Science: chemistry) A substance of variable composition, but resembling a soft, dark-coloured metal, used in the bearings of machines for obviating friction, and as a substitute for lubricants.
