Knee arthroplasty

(Science: orthopaedics, procedure) surgery involving the replacement of the knee joint with artificial components which reestablishes normal joint function.

Indicated in cases of severe knee fracture or degenerative arthritis (DJD) unresponsive to medical therapy.
