Humin

(Science: chemistry) a bitter, brownish yellow, amorphous substance, extracted from vegetable mold, and also produced by the action of acids on certain sugars and carbohydrates.

Synonym: humic acid, ulmin, gein, ulmic or geic acid, etc.

Origin: L. Humus the earth, ground.
