(Science: molecular biology) basic protein components of keratohyalin granules of the suprabasal cells of the skin.

family of intermediate filament associated cationic proteins found in mammalian epidermis. Bundle cytokeratin filaments. Various sizes in different species (16 kd bovine, 26 kd mouse, 35 kd man, 45 kd rat).
