Fannia

a genus of flies of the family muscidae. Species include fannia canicularis (the lesser housefly), commonly observed in kitchens or near food, which resembles musca domestica (the common housefly) but is somewhat smaller and has three brown stripes on the thorax, and fannia scalaris (the latrine fly) which commonly lays eggs in liquid faeces of humans and animals and is distinguished from fannia canicularis by two brown stripes on its thorax.
