Direct nuclear division --> amitosis

(Science: cell biology) An unusual form of nuclear Division, in which the nucleus simply constricts, rather like a cell without chromosome condensation or spindle formation. Partitioning of daughter chromosomes is haphazard. Observed in some protozoa.
