The skeletal remains from a hominid of the species group Homo georgicus excavated in Dimanisi, Georgia in 1999 and 2001

The partial skull remains recovered of the Dimanisi man were smaller than the typical modern human being and so far the smallest compared with the other hominids found outside Africa. The species were presumably the first hominids to have lived outside Africa.

Scientific name: Homo georgicus
