Bone sclerosis is a condition in which bones thicken, harden or increase in density. It may be caused by injuries that compress bone such as osteoarthritis and osteoma.

Word origin: Middle English bon, from Old English bān + Middle English sclirosis, from Medieval Latin sclīrōsis, from Greek sklērōsis, hardening, from sklēroun, to harden.
