autogenic

originating within the body (synonym: autogenous) (antonym: heterogenous)

in Ecology: Often used in terms of succession, autogenic factors are those that occur inside of the system, such as species diversity or ph levels. This is in contrast to allogenic processes, such as hydrology or salinity gradients, which occur outside of the system.
