Asclepias

(Science: botany) a genus of plants including the milkweed, swallowwort, and some other species having medicinal properties.

(Science: zoology) asclepias butterfly, a large, handsome, red and black butterfly (Danais Archippus), found in both hemispheres. It feeds on plants of the genus asclepias.
