The quality of outdoor air

Air quality is monitored to determine the quality and condition of the air, such as, that of the ambient air. Ambient air refers to the air in the surrounding environment, particularly the outside of buildings. A good air quality means the air is clean and unpolluted. A clean, unpolluted air is essential for a healthy, balance life. In contrast, polluted air can be detrimental to the health of humans, wildlife, and plants. For instance, prolonged exposure to air pollution can cause respiratory problems (e.g. asthma) to people.
