That portion of bone in either the maxilla or the mandible which surrounds and supports the teeth.

Composition:- 45% inorganic. For example calcium, phosphates 55% organic. For example collagen fibres, ground substance, water.

microscopic structure:- there are two types of bone in tissue: 1. Compact bone Compact haversian systems

2. Cancellous bone Honeycombe appearance Spaced haversian canals Contains red bone marrow
