Ajmaline

(Science: chemical) An alkaloid found in the root of rauwolfia serpentina, among other plant sources. It is a class ia antiarrhythmic agent that apparently acts by changing the shape and threshold of cardiac action potentials.

Pharmacological action: anti-arrhythmia agents.
