Ångström scale

From Biology-Online Dictionary
Jump to: navigation, search

(biophysics) At the scale or level of Ångström units, used especially to indicate an image being shown at a very high resolution (atomic level), and to show dimensional relativity of atoms (or molecules).

(photonics) An irradiance reference scale; a table of wavelengths of various light rays that correspond to the Fraunhofers lines in the spectrum.

Biological structures on an atomic or Ångström scale can now be viewed using advanced microscopes. DNA-protein complexes can now be directly visualized. Being able to see at a very high resolution is important to derive precise information.
