Osmosis

Post by Muzik » Fri Feb 16, 2007 6:52 am

Hi guys, so if I understand correctly, osmosis is the diffusion of water from a higher concentration to a lower concentration through a semi permeable membrane correct? This could mean coming into a cell or going out of a cell right?

btw, does the solvent always have to be water?

thanks a lot guys!

osmosis refers only to water, diffusion is a general term for going from high concentration area to lower.
