Bio test tomorrow

1)How does separation of homologous chromosomes during anaphase I of meiosis increase variation among offspring?

2) Explain why sexual reproductiion is an advantage to a population that lives in a rapidly changing environment.

3) If a gamete has 5 pairs of chromosomes, how many idifferent gametes could it produce without crossing over?

I have a big test tomorrow and I can't find these answers.

1.they doubled,and divided in two as random.
2.they have heterosis
3.this is vague question,i think 2^5,or 2 indeed
you'd better read ur book for the detail.

actually it is
1. because it is a random event if a chromosome goes to one daughter cell or the other..
2. cause it causes variation. variation is good in a changing environment because it gives more chances of an individual getting the "right" genes.
3. (assuming the diploid individual has 5 pairs of chromosomes) 2^5=32 types of gametes.

but i think the ABCDE does the same as abcde
