synthesizing proteins that doesn't need to cross a membrane structure. All proteins that have to pass a cellular membrane are synthesized via the rER/Golgi so that targetted transprot can take place.

--> enzymes involved in glycolysis for example remain free in the cytosol, so it would be meaningless to synthesize these proteins at the rER/Golgi (and it thus doesn't happen).

Ever heard of polysomes (multiple ribosomes in the cytoplasm)? you can isolate them using a sucrose density gradient ;)
