When I feel bad about disecting, I try to think to make it worth while for the animal and learn as much as I possibly can for their sacrifice.

Yeah, but I still think it's unethical...... :( Even though there's hardly a diiference between dissecting and eating meat, don't you think ?

That's why we prefer the word "sacrifice" rather than "kill" ;)

Yes they will die, but they don't die for nothing if we use the term "sacrifice" :) If you still can't distinguish the "feeling" between them, it seems that you are not suitable in Biology field.

I think it is very much the same as killing an animal for food. Listen, I admire vegitarians but I am not one. If we were killing more animals and not using them I think that is bad. I think if we kill animals and use them as much as we can that is okay. It is a hard line to draw. I would make it that highschools are only allowed certain animals for general biology classes and maybe a couple other animals for higher biology classes. Also, I really agree with the way my school does it. We dissect in more specialized classes not general biology classes. (except cow hearts and eyes which i know is a bi-product of killing them for meat, right?) From everything I've seen I am okay with the fetal pig disections. I don't believe it is right for highschoolers and general biology classes.

anyway, I think we should respect their sacrifice.
Only after the last tree has been cut down.
Only after the last river has been poisoned.
Only after the last fish has been caught.
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.

I'm sure everyone here has heard when they used to dissect humans. In Alexandria in the 3rd century AD they decided that they could learn more from dissecting a living human instead of a dead one, but it’s okay the victims were convicted criminals*
