Walrus / Odobenus rosmarus

Post by justinn » Fri Jan 05, 2007 1:56 am

I have received a school project on this mammal, and i have researched for numerous hours now. I find it extremely taxing to find information on the internal anatomy of the walrus. Would anyone please be kind enough to assist me in any sort of way. I have also visited my local library and found a few books on the internal anatomy (digestive, circulatory and respiratory system) on the seal. I understand that both these animals are greatly similar, do you think i could use this information i have for seals on walruses? :?:

thanks and any comments are welcomed.

what I now is that both of then, seals and walruses are in the same ordo, Pinnipedia. Maybe you can ask your taxonomy or anatomy lecturer to determine whether the similarity between them is significant enough or not for you to use the seals anatomy in walruses...
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.

Have you tried these-?

http://www.seaworld.org/animal-info/inf ... walrus.pdf

http://www.pinnipeds.org/species/walrus.htm

http://marinebio.org/species.asp?id=184

But you're right, there's not a lot of detailed internal stuff on the web.

by the way im in highschool, the found an indepth description of the internal anatomy of seals. I am going to end up using this as the internal anatomy of the walrus as they are extreemly similar.
I have a question for you guys, what would the niche of the walrus be other than the fact that they eat of smaller organisms and help maintain the circle of life. thanks a bunch.
