### Help: Unit conversion

For instance, my sample contains testosterone as much as 300 ng/dL. If the unit is changed for ng/mL, how much it will be?

Or simply, could you tell me please 1 ng/dL = ... ng/mL or 1 ng/mL = ... ng/dL whatever

This problem occured when I have to compare two methods of hormone measurement. Using RIA method, the unit is ng/ml, which the maximum calibrator contains testosterone 1,600 ng/dl. While for ELISA method, the maximum testosterone can be detected is 18 ng/mL.

I should know which method I should apply for my research. Thank you

Dear, Doc........(Fit), Hope You are Fit and Fine too.

1dL=100mL
1ng/dl=0.01ng/mL
1ng/mL=100ng/dL

300ng/dL=3ng/mL

So ELISA detects 18ng/mL i.e. 1800ng/dL
and RIA detects 16ng/ml i.e 1600ng/dL

So ELISA is Best suited...

Nowadays you are so busy.... That you appear rare to me...

Aha! Thank you very much, my dear. You know I am very bad dealing with numbers

Well, now is the second step: calculating fund and advantage-disadvantage It is not a must for you to help me again, but if you will do that for me I will be the most happiest person in the world now In the future I would like to offer you to be my private assistant and promote you for my private accountant

I applied RIA few times ago. The 100-tubes kit costs US\$200 and I have to pay US\$2 per tube for gamma counter counting. Plus 4 extra tubes for controls. I need to apply that twice, thus total fee will be... pfff...

I have no idea with ELISA yet. But after browsing here and there, the 96-wells kit costs US\$300 or more. However, it seems that I just need one step to read the result: ELISA reader can read all 96 wells at one time. Much cheaper than US\$2 x 100 x 2 I think but I have to make sure about this and hey I need 2 kits too aww

I think I can't sleep tonite

Ok. If you are using 100 tubes including 4 control then 2 kits will be required for 2 sets.

so.... US\$200x2=US\$400......... gamma count US\$200x2=US\$400...
so total 400+400=US\$800.

800 US Dollar(s) = 7194239 Indonesian Rupiah(s)

If you do not include 4 control in 100 tubes then 1 extra kit will be required for that; and cost will be more and depend upon wheather you have to buy full 100 tube kit or small kit is available...

So in ELISA your cost comes to US\$600 for 2 sets and add ELISA reader cost if aplicable... so if reader is not going to cost any more then you can go for ELISA as cost is lower than RIA.

Unfortunately, the control doesn't include in the kit package I have to buy it separately and the package contains minimum 100 tubes though I just need 4 tubes

*pull out her hairs*
