Tertiary structure + kinetic energy

Post by osmosischild » Sun Dec 24, 2006 2:59 pm

How does kinetic energy effect the active sites? And tertiary structure?

Kinetic Energy of molecules increase/decrease the energy of compound and the structure that binds with substrate. This causes activation or inactivation of enzyme.............

I think I m very right here.....

The kenetic energy of enzymes is depends on the temperature of the surrounding. The higher the temperature, the higher the kenetic energy of enzymes. When the temperature is higher than the optimum temperature, the bonds that stabilize the enzymes will vibrate vigorously. This causes the bonds to break. The denaturation of enzymes occurs. The active sites of the enzymes will altered due to the denaturation of enzymes. Most of the enzymes have a tertiary structure. The tertiary structure also altered by the denaturation of enzymes.

Not only Temperature but pH also affects KE of enzyme..... pH should be appropriate to get instant Vmax.........
