Modern Dinosaurs?

Post by Condraz23 » Thu Dec 07, 2006 4:02 am

Hey everyone.

Is it possible to get birds such as seagulls or ostriches and genetically modify them to resemble the therapod dinosaurs? Could it be done with simple selective breeding?

How about genetically modifying elephants into woolly mammoths, or horseshoe crabs into trilobites?

Thanks.

You'd need to either know therapod DNA composition or somehow have a looong time to wait for birds to mutate

OK, dinosaurs are identified by the holes in the skulls; for example, therapsid, diapsid; and those animals are gone. the chromosomes have changed to much to consider birds as modern dinosaurs. The tuatra is the only example of a reptile with a skull similar to those ancient animals.

It is seems completly impossible: plan of dinosaur, that was within the DNA, that can to bield dinosaur body from dinosaure egg is lost, so, if we will have dinosaure DNA we also can not to "translate" this DNA to compleete dinosaure becouse we have not egg of dinosaure, that developed within dinosaure that lost...
To produse dinosaure DNA we need to generate astronomical number of mutation - ever they are rather similar to modern birds, there is millions of mutations that divers them.

Nothing is impossible. But this is so hard, it probably won't be achieved for some years to come..

I wont clone a dino even though it may be possible to in several years but that could be a problem for the fact that we know nothing about their behavior and they went extinct for a reason . To bring them back would be a disaster (cough) (cough) jurassic park.

But it will always be impossible for mankind to know EVERYTHING...... what is beyond the universe ? Is there anything beyond ? What is "nothing" ?
