Melatonin

Post by kjle » Wed Nov 29, 2006 1:46 pm

Hi everyone, this is probably a pretty quick answer for some of you...

I was wondering how much melatonin is produced by the pineal gland each night, in the average person, say 18 year old male, like myself.

Thank-you for your help.

Kyle

nothing? Nobody has an idea at all?

I've looked on the internet for quite some time, but I didn't come across anything. I've gotta imagine it's something like 0.3 mg. But that's merely a guess...

I spent quite a while searching there but I can't seem to find anything much. I got this though

http://www.sleepfoundation.org/sleeplib ... cid=&id=60

"Taking a typical dose (1 to 3 mg) may elevate your blood melatonin levels to 1 to 20 times normal."

I don't think this is useful at all, but I tried!

i take it to fall asleep, i don't know if i have a disorder officially or not, but i can't fall asleep normally

it may be like intermittent insomnia, or something like delayed sleep phase disorder. And whatever it is, it's not getting better. One night this week i took 18 mg of melatonin, not all at once, and i still didn't fall asleep all night. My problem is I can't stop thinking, my mind never settles down.

Fix the root, and learn how to stop the thought cycle, it could get much much worse
