metabolism question

Post by biology_06er » Sun Oct 29, 2006 7:55 am

hi can sumone please see if i have this answer correct

..in short

man lost at sea only had water to drink. his weight on arrival was 100kg-body composition 1% glycogen and 30% fat-daily expenditure=10MJ/day which is basal expenditure..all body glycogen can be oxidised but only 90% of fat can be oxidised...heat combustion of fat is 40KJ/g and of glycogen 20KJ/g....I have to find out how many days he can survive for without food?

my quick working out...20x1=20 (.90x30)=27x40=1080
20+1080=1100/10=110

i get 110 days...

someplease please tell me if im right?
