not to excercise after eating?

Post by tantk » Sat Oct 28, 2006 3:03 am

the elderly always tells us not to excercise after eating as food might get into our appendix which might lead to appendix disease.

however food we ate only reaches the colon area after several hours.

someone explain to me this phenomenon.

ps: my biology is lousy :(

Well, after eating, the machinery will focus on digestive system. When you do exercise soon after eating, the digestive system will not work properly, for instance the peristaltic movement can be disturbed and it is possible that you will throw up. Also, you will get dizzy quickly because the unbalance blood circulation. Digestion needs a lot of oxygen, and when you do exercise, you also expend a lot of oxygen for your energy. Your body will lack of oxygen, then you can get faint.
