In vitro phosphorylation

Post by DocPhD » Thu Oct 26, 2006 4:52 am

Anyone out there know about a good resourse explaining in vitro phosphorylation in detail? I don't have too much experience in dealing with proteins (I'm a PCR guy), so I'm not too clear on a few things. The one thing I'm stuck on is this ->

Is using a GST fusion protein in this assay only used for isolating the protein for the assay, or does it have some other function?

If it's only used for pulling down the protein, can a HA tag be used as effectively as a GST fusion?

I'm trying to avoid using both HA-tagged and GST-tagged constructs when using only one of them may be possible.

Any thoughts?
