Quick question regarding pedigrees + autosomal recessive

Post by Taiyab » Sun Oct 15, 2006 3:22 am

Case 1: mom is lactose intolerance, dad is not
2 boys are Lactose Int; 1 boy + girl are not.

Case 2: Parents are LInt; all kids are lint.

Case 3: Parents are not Lint; 1 of 3 kids is Lint.

I know thru research that Lactose Intolerance is autosomal recessive, so is the pedigree agreeing with the fact that LInt is autosomal recessive. And lastly, what does autosomal recessive mean, can someone show me some type of test corss?

from case 3 it can be concluded that it's not an X-linked disease. Whether it's Recessive or dominant: can't be said from these cases.
