need help with college biology

Post by outsider85 » Thu Oct 12, 2006 2:11 pm

i haven't been in biology since my 10th grade year of high school and i graduated in 2003. im back in college now and i am lost in biology. My biology teacher does not like to help students. He just tells us to go see a tuitor and that's it. Is there any tips on how to understand biology better or any tricks to making it easier? I bombed my first biology test and i don't know if i can afford to doing it again. Anything would be very helpful. we are studying cells in our class.

yeah i agree, you should buy a good textbook that explains everything from top to bottom. I recommend either
"Biology" 7th edition, by Neil Campbell and Jane Reece
or
"Life: the Science of Biology" 7th edition.

However, those books are quite expensive, but worth the money

The only and ultimate book on biology:
The molecular biology of the cell, 4th edition by Alberts

Good introductionary text may be Brock's Biology of Microorganisms.
