Superior colliculus - question

Post by rjh500 » Thu Oct 05, 2006 3:01 pm

Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post this so thought general is a safe bet.

I am not a biologist and I don't know much about the superior colliculus, so here's my question:

I've spent some time reading research papers and search on the internet to find this out myself but I need to know if animals like rats, pigeons, etc... have something similar to the lobula giant movement detector (LGMD) in the locust?

If not, is there any animal (not insect) with a similar thing to LGMD?

If so could someone give me a link to a paper as proof,

I would be very greatful

Thanks for your help
