A gene = genetic information for a trait, let's say haircolor

An allele specifies the information of the trait coded by the gene, let's say brown of blond hair (thus a 'different' version of the gene information)

An easy way to remeber this would be making a analogy. Think of it like this: DNA is a Library, Genes are the books in the library, and a Allele would be the different topics of the books ex: fiction, non-fiction, etc
