If you want a simple answer...

Food and nutrition give cells what they need to make energy and survive. Carbohydrates in your diet give your cells molecules to make energy (ATP) quickly. Fats give your cells a way to store energy in a molecular form for long periods of time. Proteins give your cells building blocks to create structures within and outside the cell.

Classes of Food:
Carbohydrates
proteins
Fats
vitamins
minerals
water
Fibers

Proteins is used to build and repair body tissues, composed of amino acid
Hemoglobin need iron
Body tissues need glucose for respiration as a fuel
Bones and teeth need calcium and also for blood clotting
Body tissues need protein

Iodine is required in humans for a hormone called Thyroxine. The thyroid takes Iodine from the blood, which helps create important hormones that are released into the blood stream to help deal with stress, pregnancy, and low levels of thyroid hormone. :P
