This odd plant just showed up outside my office. What is it?

This looked like a weed at first but grew to about four feet and flowered. There are no other plants like this around the area. The flowers have lasted well over a week with no signs of dying.

hmm....isn't it sort of orchidea ?
I'm no expert, but i think i've seen an orchidea looking similar.

Thank you for your input, I will check that possibility. Another odd thing that does not show well in the pictures are the throats of the larger flowers. They resemble a pelican pouches, very wide but slim from the side view. The ground where they are growing only has about 4-6" of earth over a concrete base. That is why most things won't grow there let alone four foot tall plants like these.
