Newborn brain development

Post by TheCaliforniaLife » Thu Sep 21, 2006 6:53 am

Where can I find a good source on newborn brain development? I know once an newborn is born they do not make voluntary actions. Their actions are controlled by the hindbrain until the limbic system and cerebral cortex have stronger neurological connections from myelin around the neuron and connections with synapses of other neurons. All of the newborns actions are primative survival instincts done by the hindbrain. Not many articles, books, and pediatric books talk about this. Where can I find a good source? I want to find out when the newborn makes conscious actions. Also, if the newborn is at all conscious due to the underdeveloped cortex and limbic system.
