BONES BONES BONES

Post by deafear30 » Fri Aug 18, 2006 6:12 pm

The bone cells or osteocytes are embedded in a celcified matrix, right?...

But Why is it that the bone prepared by the grinding method will not show the osteocytes but only the cavities or lacunae.?

* i dont know what the grinding method is.

Then it wuld be a good idea to search about that. Since I suspect this question come from homework/lab, you probably have to read the texte that describe the grinding method.

Just a little clue:

(1) For the best view of bone structure (and also another tissues), we must provide a single layer of those tissues preparation.

(2) Preserved histological preparation use chemicals that's toxic to some cells.

Now, dig for your own answer ;)

Cell's membranes are dissolved when organic and mineral solvents are used.
