red blood cells will swell up and burst when placed in a hypotonic solution such as pure water. why don't we swell up and burst when we swim in the water that is hypotonic to our cells and body fluids?

My teacher just tell me it's the function of the skin....
but you know, teachers usually just tell us this is out of syllabus, i hate that, that's why i always study extras...and this sometimes get me into bad result.
