VITAMIN D

Post by fireblaze » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:22 am

HI
VITAMIN D IS REALLY A CONDITIONAL VITAMIN. ALL OTHER VITAMINS CONNOT BE SYNTHESISED BY HUMANS. HOWEVER VITAMIN D (INCREASES AMOUNT OF CALCIUM AND PHOSPHORUS IN BLOOD- I THINK) CAN BE PRODECUED BY THE SKIN IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE PUT LIGHT ON THE CONDITIONS

THX

vitamin D- it's active form: coleocalciferol in humans, can indeed be synthetised by the cells of the skin. the hydrolysis of 2,5-dihidroxicoleocalciferol takes place under the influence of the hormone Parathormone and light.

We classifiy UV-A, UV-B and UV-C is based on the energy level. UV-C has the highest energy level among all, so that it's the most dangerous.
Then, hydrolysis of 2,5-dihydroxycoleocalcicoferol need certain energy level to be run..if certain level is reached then, hydrolysis is done..no matter what kind of UV light it is...

for analogous..please read the alkane free radical chlorination.
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
