Post by Sepals » Fri Jun 23, 2006 8:14 pm

I have to revise for a microbiology exam. Does anyone know of a really good summarised book on the subject that doesn't belong to the instant notes series please?

Brock is the one... it's like my bible you know..
Just look for:
Brock's Biology of Microorganisms 10th Edition. Published by Prentice Hall

I use the tenth edition...if there's a newer edition, use it...
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.

I already used it most of the time but it's very detailed. I meant a summarised book but I suppose it's one of the best around.

Then take your lecture notes...it's all summaries (I never like them.. )
Usually, every lectures have their own lecture notes and they usually put some of them in the faculty library...

I'm using them. They're avaliable online but I have to read around a lot to do well plus the summaries are no where near enough to write essays in the exam.

I've read 4 of the instant notes book. The 3 I've got in biochemistry, plant bio and molecular bio are very good but the microbio one is very dumbed down and far too summarised. I'm glad I didn't buy it. Still even the others are just aids, they in no way have enough for a BSc.
